Sea Turtle Sculpture Collection for Winter -Spring of 2023

Welcome to my blog about my latest creation - a beautiful glass sea turtle swimming amidst coral sea weed-like green sea life. The sea turtle is 5 inches tall and almost 4 inches wide and is made using the lampwork torch technique.

Lampwork is a type of glassblowing where a specialized torch is used to heat and shape glass rods or tubing. One of the unique aspects of this technique is that the glass sculpture is solid, not hollow or tubed. This gives the piece a certain weight and presence that is truly special.

The sea turtle's shell is the focal point of the sculpture and is made using a special technique to achieve the stunning greenish-bluish with hints of purple and orange sea anemone look inside the shell. The color is achieved by manipulating the temperature of the flame, which creates different effects on the glass.

To create the sea turtle's surroundings, I used a variety of glass rods and stringers in different shades of green to represent the coral sea weed-like green sea life. To add a touch of elegance and sparkle, I embedded gasoline-colored dichroic glass in a solid clear dome on the turtle's back. The piece is then set on a black base.

I hope you enjoy this blog post and appreciate the time and effort that goes into creating such a unique and beautiful piece of art. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to reach out.
